Pet-sitting, house-sitting, Yoga and laughter.
Buccan Qld, August 23rd – September 13 2017
We are currently pet-sitting a menagerie in Buccan, near Beenleigh.
It has been a baptism of fire after three months with no pets in beautiful Koala Park, on the Gold Coast.
We have now gone out bush and are living for three weeks on acreage. We are pet sitting three bulldogs, a golden German Shepherd, an indoor cat, a pig and a snake. Jill and Phil were away for three weeks and for the first week Gerry was working full time. So this little bunch were quite a handful for little me!
All the dogs are hand fed twice a day and Spyda the Pig gets six piles of biscuits when he comes to visit from the dam once a day. We had a midnight visit from him one night. The dogs are barking like crazy and when Gerry looked outside, Stang the shepherd is standing at the door with Spyda the pig. Gerry had no idea how he was going to get Spyda back to his paddock as he is 300kg with very small legs and feet. But when he went outside, Spyda shot off back to his domain. On other nights we could hear the neighbour’s ‘pet’ dingo who set one of the dogs off barking and racing up and down the fence. He would come back completely exhausted!
Poor Stang ended up overnight at the vet and was very unwell for a few days. We are pleased to say he is back on form now.

Meet the tribe at feeding time!
Yoga is such a big part of our lives. When you are travelling and sleeping in different beds with random pillows it can take its toll on the body. Especially on a slightly more mature body. So regular Yoga, and TRE for added sTREss relief is a ‘must do’ for us. It is actually a must do for everyone and that is why we advocate it through the pages of our website.

Dec 2018: As a follow up to this, Sadly Stang broke his toe and was unwell for months. Then his health started to deteriorate and his owner had him on heavy pain killer meds. Finally, he collapsed and had to be put down just before Christmas. I was so happy though that we were house and pet sitting next door and I saw him for a cuddle and a chat a few days before. The cat, Bella, had passed away towards the end of 2017 so it’s been a sad time for the owners.
Gerry left Buccan a couple of days early to drive to our next pet sit in Geelong West, Victoria. I followed by plane a few days later, as the owners were not yet home due to the hurricane over Cuba!
