The Funny Farm, Mount Nathan
Snaps the Staffie, Yogi the Golden Retriever, two friendlier dogs you would not meet. Roger Wilco the rescued Rainbow Lorikeet. Non stop chat and a lot of it in polish with the odd swear word! Two Galahs, myriad chickens who never stayed still long enough to count them, an array of ducks with ducklings and being on acreage, lots of lizards, turtles and those dreaded mossies! Oh and Natty the horse who is retired so she only needed feeding and a chat twice a day.
Gerry: Welcome to the funny farm in Mt. Nathan, (that is what the owners daughter calls it so there is no disrespect.) We transferred from the ocean to the farm. Boy, did we get the farmhouse hospitality. Rosie cooked up a storm and Don kept the wine glasses to the brim. We had so much fun with these guys we just had to come back and stay with them. (And we did!)
Roger Wilco talked Jacky’s ear off, teaching her some Polish words that we probably shouldn’t repeat. We loved the fresh eggs straight from the chickens. Yogi and Snaps so much love, a reflection of the entire Webb family.
Jacky: Again I was working so Farmer Gerry was feeding the horse, collecting the eggs, keeping all the animals happy. We thought this would be a busy sit but the animals were all so chilled that it was quite a joy to be with them all. A spacious home and with lots of land around us we were in a retreat of our own. We were between two homes as Alyssa and Col lived in the smaller home on the property. One day, don’t ask me how(?), we locked ourselves in their shed area, between the house and the carport, with no keys and no mobile phones! After wondering what on earth we would do Gerry finally realised that the door into the house was on an outside hinge. If he could find a tool to lift the door off its hinges we would have freedom. I am so glad he has the patience of a saint, I would probably have kicked the door in. Finally he got the door gently off it’s hinges and we were free and happy. The animals would not have been impressed if we had spent the night in there. No dinner!!
When we visited again after Christmas, Col spent a patient half hour doing a video of us on the deck by the pond. It was the deck he and Alyssa had got married on a few years before. But it was infested with ants! And they loved me. You can see me hopping around and finally changing places with Gerry to try avoid them nipping me. I guess we can call it dancing yoga!
